Numerical Investigations on Thermomechanical Behaviour of Purging Plug with Rectangular and Circular Slits

Purging plugs are widely used in the secondary refining process, and its service life determines downtime usage efficiency of whole ladle. This study focuses on comparing heat transfer thermomechanical behaviour purging plug with different slits to obtain reason for long by thermal-structure coupling method. The numerical results showed that moderation temperature distribution is achieved changing slit shape reasonable arrangement circular slits. Furthermore, can alleviate stress concentration phenomena, better decreasing axial plug, which occurred at position located 0.323 m above bottom face, distance from centre 0.04 m.
